Regardless the occasion, picking the right outfit will always be tricky business for us, girls. If you are anything like me, then you too have that friend who seems to have everything figured out. I am talking about that friend (whom I do love dearly) who constantly makes me feel like the ugly duckling, because she is always prepared with the perfect outfit and perfect makeup.
However, being so close to someone who is not at all fashionably challenged like myself has made me be more observant and probably more knowledgeable. Now that the holiday season is upon us, I can actually enjoy all the parties I attend, without having to wonder if I am over or underdressed. Speaking of parties, have you decided on a New Year’s Eve dress yet? If you haven’t, here are some ideas that will hopefully help you.
- Little black dress
The little black dress is a classic and it would be the perfect choice for a formal party. If you are going to a party where there is a high chance to bump into the Queen of England, this is definitely what I would recommend. You can either keep it simple or you can pick a dress that will make you stand out. You can even take a page out of Jennifer Lawrence’s book and go for something a bit more daring.
2. Metallic dress
The New Year’s Eve party is nothing but glamorous, so it would be a perfect time for you to get your shine on. Anything from gold, silver, bronze or even black goes! If you won’t overdo it with too many accessories or inappropriate shoes, you will surely get to be the star of the party. The trick with metallic dresses is to know exactly what kind of cut is suitable for your body type. Long metallic dresses only look good on tall women who have been blessed with long legs. If that’s not the case, you might want to choose a cute, short dress, like this one:
3. Don’t shy away from colors
Like I said before, it is important to pick the dress depending on what type of New Year’s Eve party you will go to. If you are just going to attend a casual party, then it’s more than okay to pick a colorful dress. These types of dresses are my personal favorite because, to be honest, I am a colorful person. Red would be the obvious choice, but nothing should stop you from trying on something blue or green or even something that has all the colors of the rainbow.
